In June 2005 roblox.com called itself The Online Building Toy™
. Down the left side ran a table, Top ROBLOX Points Holders
, with ten names. Woodgie led with 14079 points. In the news column the team thanked William, philip, and Matt
for taking part in our first user's focus group
. The same three names are in the points table: Matt second, philip third, William fifth.
Scrub through the captures with the slider, or read on.
This is roblox.com’s homepage from 2005 to 2026 in 20 captures. The early pages talk to a small crowd by name, with news, contests and scores. By 2010 the page sells The FREE online building game.
and one featured game with its visit counter. From 2014 on it is a sign-up form, and every version since asks for your birthday.
2005 Top ROBLOX Points Holders

The June 24, 2005 capture is crowded. A blue menu runs down the left: Home, Build!, Games, Models, Contests, My Stuff, People, Forum, Sign In, Sign Out and FAQ. In the middle a contest clock reads 10h 55m
for Fend off the Bots!
, with the rules in one line: Use your SPAWN GUN to keep the bots at bay. The sooner you get them all off the platform, the more points you get.
Points are everywhere. Under With ROBLOX, you can…
come four headings: Invent!, Play ROBLOX!, Build ROBLOX! and Earn ROBLOX Points! The last one promises that Everything you do on ROBLOX earns ROBLOX points.
The page signs off with Try ROBLOX today. It's free!
The footer adds Patents pending.
Roblox’s 2020 stock-market prospectus says the story began in 1989, when the founders, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, programmed a 2D simulated physics lab called Interactive Physics. Roblox itself was started in 2004.[1] The oldest roblox.com capture we opened, from June 2004, shows only an error: Directory Listing Denied
.
2006 – 2007 ROBLOX.com (Alpha-test)

A year later the page’s code names it ROBLOX.com (Alpha-test)
, though that header doesn’t show in this replay. The June 2006 page gives instructions instead of news: To get started, simply choose a character and visit somebodys Place.
Then the house rule. When you visit your own place, changes that you make are permanent. Changes to someone elses place are not permanent.
A pale blue box lists the nine newest people, from robbie to MattDusek, above Recently Visited Places
. In this replay the logo and the big picture of a Cool Place
don’t load, so their spaces stay white.

The New Year’s Day 2007 page reads like the back of a game box: ROBLOX Virtual Playworld
, ROBLOX is Free!
and three promises.
Build your personal Place with thousands of virtual bricks
. Meet new friends and chat in 3D
. Battle in the Brick Arenas
, which comes with a warning: Play with the slingshot, rocket, or other brick battle tools. Be careful not to get
bloxxed
.
A yellow button says FREE - Download and Play!
next to Works with your Windows PC!
Badges has joined the menu. The Flash demo in the middle of the page doesn’t render in this replay, and neither does the logo.
ONE GAME PAGE Crossroads: the slingshot and the rocket
The slingshot and the rocket came from somewhere. Roblox’s page for Crossroads calls it Roblox's very first multiplayer game
and quotes a memory from Shedletsky, dated December 11, 2006: There were two weapons: the slingshot and the rocket launcher.
When the team first noticed a stranger, dergenx
, playing, everyone on the team got on and played with him for an hour.
[2]
We opened the game’s page, number 1818, on four dates. All four captures show the same one-line description, The classic ROBLOX level is back!
The 2016, 2018 and 2020 ones show the same overhead picture of a green map; in January 2026 the picture doesn’t render.
The page lists it as created on April 30, 2007 (May 1 in the later captures). The player limit stays at 8. What moves is the visit counter.
Classic: Crossroads, visits on the game page
- 2016
- 2018
- 2020
- 2026
By January 2026 the page has a rating, Maturity: Mild • Ages 5+
, Violence (Repeated/Mild)
, and two new columns, Voice Chat and Camera. Both read Not Supported
. On the live site in October 2026 the title is just Crossroads
, and the description now ends with this line: Now We are 10,000
- Celebrating the 10,000th Roblox user.
2008 Not affiliated with the Pirates of the Caribbean

In June 2008 the browser tab spells out the pitch: ROBLOX: A FREE Virtual World-Building Game with Avatar Chat, 3D Environments, and Physics
. The logo has uneven letters with a red outline. The menu has grown to My ROBLOX, Games, Catalog, People, Builders Club, Forum, News, Parents and Help.
Under Cool Places
sits a row of games made by players. Their names survive in the page’s code: Update! WWII Battlefields: North African Campaign
, Build to Survive ≈ Tsunami™
, Zombie Ocean: Resuce mission ~Aquas~ *RESTRICTED*
and ***Indiana Jones Obstacle Course*** 6 Players Max
.
ROBLOX Corp. is not affiliated with Lego, MegaBloks, Bionicle, Pokemon, Nintendo, Lincoln Logs, Yu Gi Oh, K'nex, Tinkertoys, Erector Set, or the Pirates of the Caribbean. ARrrr!
Eleven names in one legal line, and the last one gets a pirate’s growl.
The footer is the best line on the page. Toy bricks, trading cards and a game company are in the list, then a film series about pirates, then ARrrr!
We left out 2009. Its captures lose the styles that hold the page together, and the December one opens a 2010 page instead.
2010 The FREE online building game.

The June 2010 homepage sits in a blue gradient. A banner says The FREE online building game.
beside a PLAY NOW
button. Under it the page picks one game: Featured Free Game: Mos Eisley CTF
, by Kanaju, Favorited: 12,680 times
, Visited: 79,265 times
.
Next to the login box an otherwise blank area reads Couldn't load plugin.
Whatever was embedded there doesn’t render in this replay.
A box talks to parents: ROBLOX IS a kid-friendly place on the internet where your children can exercise their creativity in a moderated online environment.
The pirates are gone from the footer. Two years after the toy list, the line reads ROBLOX is not sponsored, authorized or endorsed by any producer of plastic building bricks, including The LEGO Group, MEGA Brands, and K'Nex, and no resemblance to the products of these companies is intended.
The same disclaimer is in every capture text we read from 2010 to 2016.
2011 Enter your month and year of birth

In June 2011 cartoon characters crowd the masthead, and a big green circle says Play Now
. An orange strip under the menu asks for help: Hey experienced Robloxians, help us test at sitetest.roblox.com!
The featured game is ROBLOX City by Beta2, Visited: 342,639 times
.
The code holds a sign-up box that opens over the page. It asks you to make up a name for your character
, then Enter your month and year of birth
. The year list starts at 2010 and runs back a hundred years, to 1911. A promise follows: Your birthday will not be saved or given out to any third party.
A separate box for playing as a guest offers two buttons, Play As Boy
and Play As Girl
.
Keep the birthday in mind. Three years later it moves out of the pop-up and onto the homepage.
2012 – 2013 Survive The 87 Disasters!

In June 2012 a dark strip replaces the cartoon masthead, and the green circle stays. The featured game is SURVIVE THE 87 DISASTERS!
by TheFurryFox: Updated: 5 days ago
, favorited 338,017 times, Visited: 11,845,902 times
.
These are cumulative visits, as each capture showed them. Each June the featured game is a different one, so the counters don’t add up to a trend. They show what one game on the front page had collected by the day of the capture.

In June 2013 the pick is ROBLOX BASE WARS FPS
, credited to an account called Games. The news column now links to the company blog: Five Unique Answers to “How Do I Get a Job at ROBLOX?”
sits under a post about the Kestrel Home Store.
The code of both pages carries a loading screen for the game player: Gameplay sponsored by:
. In 2012 it asks, under that, Want to get rid of these ads?
In 2013 it says Get more with Builders Club!
2014 Join millions of builders

By our June 2014 capture the featured game has given way to a sign-up page. Our capture is the page roblox.com sent visitors to, /Landing/Animated: a blue city skyline, the headline Join millions of builders and explore their creations
, a picture of a block island with a red bridge, and the question What will you build?
On the right is the form, and its first field is Birthday: Month, Day, Year. The note under it says Enter your birthday for a personalized experience. It will not be given to any third party.
The year list runs from 2013 back to 1914. Then Gender, Male or Female, a username of 3-20 alphanumeric characters, no spaces
and a password of 6-20 characters, minimum of 4 letters & 2 numbers
.
The menu has shrunk to five links in the footer: Jobs, Blog, Privacy Policy, Parents and Help. Catalog, Forum and Builders Club are no longer on the first page a new visitor sees.
2015 – 2016 A roller coaster by StarMarine614

On January 2, 2015 the city is gone. A red roller coaster climbs across the whole screen, with the wordmark and You Make the Game
over it. A small caption in the corner credits the picture: Game: ROBLOX Point
, Developer: StarMarine614
. The box on the right says Sign up and start having fun!
This time Username and Password come first, and Birthday follows.
Further down, a section answers What is ROBLOX?
with ROBLOX is the Game Powered by Players.
Another lists where to play: on your desktop, your tablet, or your phone.
The footer in the page’s code still says ©2014.

By June 2016 the slogan under the logo is Powering Imagination
. The coaster and the form stay. The text below has numbers, over 15 million games created by users
, and a ranking: #1 gaming site for kids and teens (comScore)
. The device line is longer too: PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Amazon Devices, and Xbox One
.
100 choices. The 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2017 forms we read all offer exactly a hundred years, starting with the current or previous year.
2017 – 2018 The O’s turn into squares

In our December 2, 2017 capture the wordmark is new: solid red letters, with both O’s drawn as squares. The coaster and the form stay, and Birthday is back at the top of the form. On January 1, 2018 the page looks the same. In both replays the pictures in the lower sections don’t render, so our stills stop under the form.
The small print changes with the logo. From 2005 to 2016 every footer text we read begins with a version of ROBLOX,
. The 2017 code says Online Building Toy
, characters, logos, names and all related indicia are trademarks of ROBLOX Corporation©2017 Roblox Corporation. Roblox, the Roblox logo, Robux, Bloxy, and Powering Imagination are among our registered and unregistered trademarks
. In our December 2017 capture the building toy is out of the footer.
The code also has a new strip: We use cookies to offer you a better experience.
There is no 2019 here. The mid-year capture is a cookie check that reloads forever, and the January one draws only a blank page and a footer in our browser.
2020 – 2022 A wall of game covers

The September 1, 2020 capture is dark. Game covers tilt across the screen in a diagonal collage, the wordmark has turned white, and the form sits on a white card under SIGN UP AND START HAVING FUN!
, Birthday first. Below it come ROBLOX ON YOUR DEVICE
and a row of store badges, among them App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore and Xbox One.
The footer keeps the 2017 slogan: ©2020 Roblox Corporation. Roblox, the Roblox logo and Powering Imagination are among our registered and unregistered trademarks in the U.S. and other countries.

January 2021 looks almost the same; Gender is now marked optional. Two months later, on March 10, 2021, Roblox stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange.[5] None of our captures shows the 73 hours from October 28 to 31, 2021, when Roblox was down.[4] By January 1, 2022 the card has turned dark, with a white Sign Up button, and the wordmark still has its two square O’s.
2023 – 2026 The second O comes back

On January 1, 2023 the wordmark is lighter, and the second O is round again. Roblox had explained it in August 2022: The second “o” has returned as a letter, giving more focus to our iconic tilt.
The tilt, it said, represents building, progression, and motion
.[3]

The rest of the page barely moves. By our January 2024 capture the badge row includes PlayStation and Meta Quest. The September 2025 form is the same dark card.

The live page we loaded on October 15, 2026 swaps the collage for separate tilted covers and adds a Galaxy Store badge. Its tab says Play Free Online Games on Roblox - Sign Up to Play!
The card still begins with Birthday.
In September 2026, for its 20th anniversary, Roblox added a Classic theme to its app that brings back the old-school Roblox logo, colors, and font
, and said active Roblox Plus subscribers would keep it after the event.[6] Our October 15 homepage shows the refreshed logo.

2005 · Toy2026 · Sign up2005 → 2026 Ten names, then a birthday
The 2005 page knew its players by name. Woodgie, Matt, philip and seven others had their points on the front page, and the news thanked three of them for joining our first user's focus group
. The 2026 page names nobody. It asks every visitor for a month, a day and a year.
The words moved, too. Online Building Toy
is in every footer text we read from 2005 to 2016, and Powering Imagination
is in the ones from 2017 to 2026.
One promise made the whole trip. The 2005 sign-off was Try ROBLOX today. It's free!
The 2026 browser tab says Play Free Online Games on Roblox
.

We selected one homepage capture of roblox.com for every year from 2005 to 2026 except 2009 and 2019, 20 in all. They are from June 2005, June 2006, January 1, 2007, June 2008, June 2010 to June 2014, January 2, 2015, June 2016, December 2, 2017, January 1 of 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and September 1 of 2020 and 2025. The 2014 capture is the landing page the homepage sent visitors to, /Landing/Animated.
The last frame is the live site, loaded on October 15, 2026. The 2009 captures lose their styles, the 2019 ones show a cookie check or a blank page, and the 2004 one is an error page. Four more captures show the Crossroads game page in 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2026; the 2022 and 2024 ones lost the game picture and are left out.
Each preview is the first screen of a still 1440 CSS pixels wide, captured at 2× resolution; click it for the captured page, up to 2,700 CSS pixels tall, and its Wayback link (the live site’s address for 2026). The browser frames are illustrations of the eras. The 2006 and 2007 logos and the old Flash demos don’t load, and Couldn't load plugin.
notices mark embedded media that doesn’t render in 2010 to 2013. In 2017 and 2018 the lower sections, whose pictures didn’t render, are left off the stills. From 2020 on the pages are built by JavaScript, so their wording comes from the stills.
